The Karbi (known as Mikir/Arleng) are an ethnic group of Northeast India, mostly inhabiting the hill districts of Assam. The Karbi language belongs to the Sino-Tibetan language family and is spoken in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. According to the 2011 census, the Karbi language is spoken by half a million in Northeast India.
